How to use Chery Lin Skin Therapy products

Naturally treating your skin, body and senses™

The Face

Facial massage helps the active ingredients in your facial treatments work more deeply and effectively. As part of your daily application, perhaps in the evening you can apply as follows, but if time doesn’t allow adapt the programme to suit you. You can always try the full application when you have time for a lovely pampering session!

Application

Using gentle, but firm strokes massage the treatment into your skin by following the natural symmetry of your facial features and bone structure and in an upward direction (against gravity). This quick and simple method also helps stimulate the lymphatic flow, clear sinuses and release tension. (Very ageing on the face!). If you breathe evenly and deeply and concentrate on the strokes, you will find this very therapeutic and rejuvenating.

  1. Start with the chin and with slightly cupped hands, stroke the jawline, alternating movements on both sides of the face, moving from the chin to the ears
  2. Relax the forehead by placing fingers of both hands on the centre of the forehead. Thumbs can rest on the cheeks. Draw fingers out towards the sides, stroking smoothly and in a slightly upward direction. Repeat the stroke and work your way up your forehead towards your hairline.
  3. Keeping hands relaxed and cupped, circle stroke your temples softly several times with your fingertips in a clock-wise direction.
  4. Using the second finger and in circular movements, massage your eye area, very gently. Do this by starting at the corners of the eyes and work outwards and round to below the eyes. Be careful not to pull the skin here. It is very fragile and prone to stretching.
  5. While you work on your eyes, if you are prone to blocked sinuses, apply gentle pressure on the hollows under the ridge of your brows (these are your sinus passages). With your thumb pads, apply gentle pressure on one spot at a time. Hold for a pressure count of five before releasing gently. Repeat two or three times. Work your way around your eye from the inner to outer edge of the eyebrows. This will help relieve any tension related headache.
  6. Now circle the nose and cheekbones. Using your first fingers, slide them down firmly each side of the bridge of the nose to the edge of the nostrils. Follow this through, using pads on your fingers and in a circular motion, under the cheekbones, indenting them slightly under the ridge of the bones. Continue outwards towards the sides of the face, but lessen the pressure. Repeat movement slowly and up to five times.
  7. To ease tension in the jaw, mouth and cheeks, the following strokes allow relaxation and softening of lines. Keep your hands relaxed, rotate fingertips into your cheek muscles (just under the cheekbones). Repeat several times before moving out towards the ears. Gentle press and rotate the fingers alternatively to increase suppleness and loosen muscles around the mouth.
  8. To release tension in the strong muscles at the sides of the jaw, sink the pads of your index and middle fingers gently into each muscle and firmly press before gently rotating in a clockwise direction. Do this for a few seconds.
  9. To complete the facial, circle the chin with fingers and the lightly stroke over the jawline.
  10. Finish with hands cupped over closed eyes for a few seconds.

Applying body treatments

Self massage helps tone the body, relax tense muscles and stimulates the circulation. Whilst I can advise on application, which is helpful for cellulite and detoxification, this does replace the methods used for a full and beneficial body massage. Please leave this to the experts. I am simply advising you carefully apply the treatments to gain as maximum a benefit in the time you have. The majority of us do not have the time for a daily intense regime. What I hope I can help you with is a daily refreshing wake up or a relaxing beneficial wind down. Cellulite is a common afflication and detectable by the bumpy orange peel look of the skin on the more fleshy parts of our body. Massage alone will not rid the tissues of the deposits, but it greatly helps. Sensible eating is key so that the body doesn't draw on muscle as fuel instead of the fat. As it usually results from a sluggish circulation and poor elimination of toxins from the body it is necessary to combine a number of approaches to improve the condition and texture of the skin.

Make small lifestyle changes

Increase your intake of fresh fruit, vegetables, fish and meat. Increase your intake of water and cut down on the intake of toxins such as refined carbohydrates, caffeine and alcohol.

Exercise regularly as it is important in helping the lymphatic system rid the body of waste products.

Reduce stress. It should not be suffered for a prolonged period of time as it robs the body of energy and health. It can encourage unhealthy and irregular eating.

1. Apply treatment oil to affected areas. Soothe, warm and relax the thigh muscles with upward flowing strokes. Repeat several times.

2. By using lifting, squeezing and wringing actions to knead the thigh and buttock muscles, this helps with the exchange of tissue fluids. Knead thoroughly over the whole area. Follow with firm strokes (as above).

3. Now press and rotate thumb pad on one area at a time, whilst using other hand to push the tissue towards the stroke. Follow with step 1 to help aid the elimination process and boost circulation.

4. Use pummelling and hacking strokes to target the cellulite. Strike the area firmly and briskly one hand following the other.

5. Soothe the thighs and buttocks with upwards strokes or, if you have one, use a hand held massage roller by moving it in circular motions over the area.
